Rules of Conduct During Jams

Our jam sessions are spaces for sharing, trust, and movement. To ensure everyone can practice safely and peacefully, we make it a point to cultivate respect, attentiveness, and kindness.

By participating in our jams, you help maintain an inclusive, warm, and safe space for everyone. 🌸

Consent

  • Ask for and receive explicit consent from your partner.

  • Respect and welcome the answer, whether it is “yes,” “not yet,” or “no.”

  • Use simple signals (e.g. “up / down / stop”) to clarify intentions.

  • Regularly check your partner's comfort and well-being, especially during more engaging figures or when you are spotting (e.g., "Is it okay if I touch your stomach if I spot you like this?")

Security

  • Always start with a complete warm-up: wrists, shoulders, hips, back, core.

  • Spotter: emphasize the importance of spotting during lessons and always demonstrate this essential role.

  • Focus on low/ground lifts before moving on to higher lifts.

  • Check with the group the intensity of spotting required (ninja spotting or very present).

  • Respect your own limits and those of your partner.

  • Work gradually: mastering a simple figure is preferable to a risky attempt at a complex figure.

Communication

  • Ask first what your partner needs: “How can I help you?” or “Do you need feedback now?”

  • Focus on yourself: Identify what you yourself could improve before commenting on the other person's performance.

  • Allow the discussion to unfold between the base and the flyer before intervening as a spotter. Intervening too early can interrupt dialogue and mutual understanding.

  • Use clear and concise instructions that are positive and constructive.

  • Respect everyone's pace and level, and encourage active listening: ask questions and check that the message is understood.
